Lyon, city of art and commerce

The gallery is located in the passage of Argue, lovely metallic glass gallery connecting the street Republic to the streets Edouard Herriot and Brest.
Lyon, considered since the fifteenth century as a major European centers of big business and banking is particularly recognized in the textile sector for its silks. It´s the Argue (tool to spin the gold and silver for fine fabrics), which operated near the mint, which gave its name to the passage from its opening in 1825. Created for trade, it is adorned with a statue of Mercury, god of commerce.
In the Enlightenment, the arts in Lyon knew a period of development and recognition both in the humanities than in music.
Examples include Molière, who gave performances in Lyon and Rousseau, who stayed in the city. The Academy of Lyon hosted Racine and Voltaire. Rameau, Mozart, and the Lyonnais Jean-Marie Leclair, who was the master of the French school of violin, exponents also for the influence of the city in terms of music.

Since 1991, the Biennale of Contemporary Art of Lyon is an art exhibition that takes place every odd year.
The establishment of infrastructure such as convention center, auditorium, library of Lyon, the scene of the 8th, the creation of the business district of La Part-Dieu and the exhibition center Eurexpo lead Lyon play nowadays an important role in welcoming many European summits.
