Charcoal, pastel, watercolour, acrylic, oil ; he passes from one technique to another in a very natural way according to his desires and the subject he is dealing with…

Watercolour : He has had his « watercolour » period which he very quickly blended with the other techniques giving a very particular character to his works on paper. Acrylic and Oil : For a number of years now, his work is done principally on canvas. Acrylic first and foremost seduced him because it allows him to work spontaneously. Oil, whose drying time is much longer, offers him the possibility to rework the canvas almost to infinity… |
Drawing : David has practised it daily from a very young age. It is always present in his works. He has experimented with all the dry techniques : charcoal, chalk, pastels…
His preferred theme : to be human.
On the Opal Coast, David is known for the manner in which he represents it. Whether they be musicians, well dressed strollers, mothers with their children or spindly characters, he plays to present these imaginary actors. He works little with a model but prefers mingle with the crowd and observe… His images he restores in the studio, reviews and corrects, but so true to life !
« The Introportraits » A contraction of « Introspection « and « autoportrait »
He paints the human from the interior, fading to infinity under a recurrent, sophisticated, amateurish character, somewhat androgynous and aware that he gives a theatrical expression,a fly or a beauty spot placed on a corner of the cheeks (a wink to his wife who has such a beauty spot on the chin).
He also paints landscapes or flowers or fruits but a human is never far away…
His news
He is now exhibiting his work for 10 years : pushed a bit by his circle at the beginning.
The public immediately gave a warm welcome to the first works that he consented to exhibit, even though they were somewhat unfamiliar. Though a bit sombre for some, they attracted attention like a magnet and the care taken with the technique could not fail to generate interest. From competitions at Art Exhibitions, the top galleries were not slow to show him…
David has exhibited in France, in great Britain in Belgium and in Switzerland.
He will shortly publish a book « David Jamin, The Art Book»
