Better known Carré d’artistes®
The first Carré d’artistes® art gallery opened its doors in September of 2001 in Aix-en-Provence, exhibiting 25 artists right from the beginning. These artists included Isabelle Arata, Pascal Bouterin, Cédric Bouteiller, Lamiel, Vincent Consentino, Marie, Kali Dennis, Claire Donjerckovic, Véronique Colombo, Cathy Mouis, Catherine Orsini-Medhurst, Patricia Mulko, and Gabi Wagner.
Thanks to this first group of artists, who believed in and championed the implementation of the Carré d’artistes® vision, a new type of collective art gallery was born.
The Carré d’artistes® galleries enable artists to encounter a wide audience. This innovative concept shakes up art-world conventions (formats, pricing, market value, etc.)
Carré d’artistes® has chosen a simple principle: one format = one price. The price of the work is determined exclusively by its format, no matter the notoriety or popularity of the artist or the technique used to create the artwork.
Contemporary art: exhibited, shared, admired, demystified, and placed within everybody’s reach.
For the past eight years, our teams have given themselves wholeheartedly to the Carré d’artistes® vision; the mission is clear and has not changed. Each Carré d’artistes® collaborator is in perpetual search of innovative ways to offer new exhibitions to artists. Each team member ensures the promotion of each artist.
In 2009, we are proud to offer exhibition spaces for more than 200 artists within the Carré d’artistes® galleries.
In the next few years, we hope to open additional galleries to enable new artists to exhibit their works.
