During the Christmas Season, Carré d’artistes® is exhibiting a collection of 11 diptychs (paintings in two parts) by the artist David Jarmin. These pairs of "Dandy", adorned in festive costumes, are dashing towards a complicit future..
For the diptychs, David worked with oil on canvas with charcoal drawing.
He commenced with the charcoal to work the expression and used both fine paint brushes and also quite large brushes to restore the movement.

« Nothing warms the heart more in towns in winter than these well lit pedestrian streets, where, every evening, the passers-by linger, attracted by the shop windows, one more scintillating than the other. As we follow these arteries, dressed for Christmas, we meet the city dwellers filled with wonder. In their looks : emotion, seduction, the search for something that will please a loved one. |
The couples looking for an indication « what item in a shop window will cause him to turn his head ? » The knowing smile as the surprise is prepared…
And the children : What will make this an unforgetable Christmas for them ?
The quest for presents is itself a pretext for dressing up : she has put on her red coat, so elegant for the occasion. He has planned to invite her to dinner after this session of traditional shopping.
The Christmas festivities begin here. Just like those dressed in their finery for the special openings of the big shops , the couples go arm in arm to choose these precious little gifts, original and unique, or only to inhale the urban air of happy days ! »
